Seeking Purpose - The Old Van, Livorno, Italy
Seeking Purpose - The Old Van, Livorno, Italy

The truth is, this web site has been years in the making. My first ever web site was written on Notepad back in the '90's in HTML.  Fast forward to 2026 and we are so blessed. Not only do we have WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) but now we have AI. I did allow it to make some changes to my site but not without careful consideration.

For a few years now, I have felt challenged to create a web site or blog about taking a more mindful approach to photography. One that incorporated some aspect of my faith journey. Previous web sites focused on promoting and selling my services as a wedding, portrait and landscape photographer and if you've been reading my posts recently, you'll know that my emphasis and focus (pardon the pun) has completely shifted.

I began to research if there were others already doing what I wanted to do and you can imagine my pleasure in discovering that there were some people already doing exactly that.

One of those people is Paul Sanders. I discovered Paul's site "Still" and it so resonated with me. I would really recommend you check out Paul's site. On a personal level, he had also experienced some difficult times in his life and had come to the end of himself, rediscovering his faith in the process. I reached out to Paul some time ago and we've been communicating some since. Recently, he very kindly took a look at this site and made some very helpful and constructive suggestions. So I just want to say a huge thanks to Paul, as he helped me see some glaringly obvious issues with parts of the site (issues created by using AI mostly) that I totally missed because I was too close to it. So it’s a learning curve for sure.

Paul has also published a book (of the same title) which is about approaching photography from a mindful perspective. It’s super helpful and I would highly recommend it! (No, I'm not on commission, I bought my own!) The book is available on Amazon and other bookstores, but I'm sure that Paul would appreciate you purchasing it directly from his site.

So...about my own site and the changes.... The 'About' page has seen the bulk of the changes and hopefully that now reads a lot better. I've also toned down some of the camera techie aspects of my journey. If you want to listen to me ramble on about my cameras and equipment, contact me! I've built this site using Wix and have also delved into some of the helpful AI tools. But, AI should never be a replacement for us. Some of the faux pas on my site came down to my being unfamiliar with exactly what AI was doing in the background. For example, I changed the description of some images, but I didn't know that AI was also overwriting my file names! Sacre Bleu! (one of the things Paul spotted!)

I also plan on getting my own domain at some point as I know that will help a lot in the visibility of my site. My desire at the end of the day is to create something useful and helpful to others. Growth just means more people are able to see it, so I would really appreciate it if you could share posts when you read them.

Thank you to anyone reading this and visiting my site. There are teething problems for sure, but I'm determined to be as honest as I can on this site while maintaining as stripped back an approach as possible to how I do things here... just as with my images. If you find something that doesn't look or sound right, please don't just gloss over it, send me a message via the "Connect with Tranquility" section on the Home page.

And again, thanks Paul for all your help.

May your hearts and minds experience Peace ,
